Elementary Ministry

Did you know that most kids have fully formed their ideas about who God is and have decided whether or not they will have a relationship with Him by the time they leave 5th grade? Our passion is helping kids discover how truly undeniable God is in a world that tries so hard to convince them otherwise. Our desire is for all kids to know that church is more than just a place to go once a week; that it is a place where they are safe, loved, and belong. We want them to remember that church is a place where someone knows their name, cares for them, and is excited to share the love of Jesus with them.

  • Elementary ministry occurs during the school year on Sunday mornings at 10:45 am and on Wednesday nights during WOW (Word on Wednesday) at 6:15 PM.

  • VOLUNTEERS
All volunteers and staff at Charity are required to complete a background check and complete a thorough application process before working with any children. Our volunteers are loving, responsible, and are passionate about connecting children to Jesus.

    CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT
All children in 5th grade or younger must check in at the self check-in kiosks located near the entrance to the children's wing. Children MUST wear their name tags until programming has ended.

Elementary students gather in their classrooms, which are labelled by tribe. Each child is assigned a colored tribe, which can be found on their name tag at check-in.

Students in 4th and 5th grade will be released as soon as service ends. Please make arrangements with them ahead of time so they know where to meet you. Students in Kindergarten - 3rd grade will be dismissed from the large group space (known as The Gazebo) by a leader as parents arrive to pick them up downstairs.

For the safety of all children and volunteers, the doors to the children's wing are locked once the service begins. The main doors will be opened at the end of service. If you need to enter the children’s area while the doors are locked, please use the doorbell on the right side of the main doors. This is the only accessible door during programming. The north and south entrances remain locked at all times.

    EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Charity Kids Ministry has plans in place for emergencies such as fires, tornadoes, intruders, etc. Your child’s safety is our priority!

  • Are you seeking to have your child baptized at Charity? Fill out our Baptism Request Form and a staff member will contact you as soon as possible.

    Baptism Request Form

  • One of the promises our parents makes when their child is baptized is to put the Word of God in the hands of their child. Our congregation promises to come alongside the parents to help them fulfill this and other promises.

Children receive Bibles from Charity at 3 strategic age levels:

    1. Baby or Toddler Bibles are given at baptism.

    2. Adventure Bibles are given to first graders each fall. The NIrV translation is what we use in ministry and kids have weekly opportunities to practice looking up verses and earn small prizes for remembering to bring their Bible to class.

    3. Student Bibles are given as gifts following First Communion for our 5th graders. These NLT Study Bibles are used in student ministry and will follow our older kids as they go through middle and high school.

We also have a small supply of these Bibles on hand for purchase if a student loses or misplaces theirs.

  • First Communion is given to Charity 5th graders at Maundy Thursday services during Holy Week.

Students complete special classes during the weeks leading up to Easter as they learn what communion is and how God intends us to celebrate it.

Information is sent out to parents of 5th graders by mid-February.
