Deep Dive: Take the Plunge into God’s Word!

Starting Sunday, February 16, at 8:15 AM in the Youth Room, we invite you to take the plunge with Deep Dive, a weekly adventure where we dive headfirst into the profound depths of God’s Word—with curiosity, insight, and yes, maybe a little humor to keep it fun!

Each week, we’ll explore the lectionary readings—Old Testament, Epistle, Psalms, and Gospel—and tackle those big, often intimidating questions about the Bible:

  • How did we get this thing anyway?

  • How do I use it in my day-to-day life?

  • What’s the authority of the Bible?

  • Should I read it literally, figuratively, or somewhere in between?

  • Who gets to decide what it really says?

  • And, what on earth are all the barriers that keep us from understanding it?

But hold on—Deep Dive isn’t just about asking questions. It’s also about peeling back the layers. We’ll explore the historical context, cultural significance, and social conditions of each text to uncover meaning you might not have considered. We might even talk about redactions (spoiler alert: people edited the Bible before spellcheck was invented!).

Whether you’re brand new to Scripture or you know your way around the Bible, everyone is welcome, Deep Dive will give you fresh perspectives, a deeper understanding, and enough coffee and donuts to fuel the journey.

Here’s the scoop:

  • Socks and shoes? Totally optional (we won’t judge).

  • A Bible, a curious heart, and maybe a friend? Definitely required.

  • Coffee, donuts, and lively discussion? You bet!

Join us in person or online. With livestreams on Facebook and YouTube, you can dive in from the comfort of your own home (yes, pajamas absolutely count).

So, set that alarm, grab your Bible (or your phone if you’ve forgotten it), and come get ready to experience the Bible like never before. It’s time to take the plunge!
