Congregational Life Pastor

Rev. Scott P. Bauman

A true PK (preacher's kid), Pastor Scott was born to Christian missionary parents in China. Every Easter morning, he awoke to the sound of his father blasting out a trumpet fanfare to announce Christ's resurrection.

Called to Charity in 1999, Pastor Scott brought a lifetime of Christian witness and recent experience in pastoring a small rural congregation. He began the ALPHA ministry at Charity - a hugely successful program that has revitalized people asleep in their faith and taught the basics of Christianity to seekers and others who are confused or misinformed about the basic tenets of the Christian faith.

Besides mentoring small groups, Pastor Scott is Charity's congregational life pastor and acting administrative pastor. Charity is growing and so have the responsibilities for organizing our ministerial and lay focus. He is also called to prison ministry and regularly visits and establishes relationships with inmates at the North Dakota State Penitentiary in Bismarck. Pastor Scott also has a gift for grief ministry and counsels and supports those going through difficult personal situations.

Pastor Scott feels called to reach out to the unchurched. His strength as pastor is being sensitive but not judgmental, particularly to those who are asleep in their faith.

Charity values Pastor Scott as:

  • A man of kindness - a pastor's heart
  • Tenacious and passionate about Christ and His church
  • Encourages and supports people
  • Knowledgeable about church theology, liturgy, history
  • Easy to talk to and a good listener
  • Good at developing ministries
