2004-2006 Construction Project history
![]() |
A proposal was approved by a majority vote of a Voter's Assembly on November 21, 2004. Design, diagrams, and proposals were the result of six months of work by congregation members on the Facility Planning Ministry Team. All of their work was reviewed and approved by the Charity Vision Council. These people also consulted with many individuals in ministry at Charity who routinely work or sponsor events and fellowship in the facility.
The following information was presented to the congregation in November 2004.
Challenges
The facility expansion in 1994 added additional space for education and administration. The challenges since then have been crowding in the sanctuary, no area for coffee fellowship, lack of open, people-moving areas, and the need for more space for youth and children's ministries, discipleship training and small groups. The results of the survey completed by the congregation in June 2004 coincided with the opinions of several experts on church design. Essentially, the health and growth of Charity has been curtailed by overcrowding, lack of space for fellowship and gathering places, and crowded parking. The team believes that providing enhanced worship and fellowship areas will allow more people to experience more ministry, and DO more ministry for others.
Oversight
A Charity Construction Management Team provided oversight and direction for the initial demolition and subcontractor work, including the accounting for the project.
Financing
A Charity Capital Campaign Team met with members about the financial support.
Prayer Support
A prayer team prayed for all of the construction workers, volunteer laborers, support people and ministry leaders at Charity, so that ministries may continue joyfully and powerfully, and that all who labor in the house of the Lord will be kept safe, protected from harm in all ways.
Priority Areas
As this plan for expansion has developed, the Facility Planning Ministry Team established three priority areas: targeted remodeling of existing structure, construction of a southern addition (3,660 square feet - {later voted down}), and construction of two floors of the west education area (1,240 square feet), addition of 87 new parking spots, re-carpeting and repainting of the entire building, including new seating, lights and audio/video in the sanctuary. Remodeling and new construction ended summer 2006 and the facility was dedicated on September 10, 2006. The areas designated for remodel, upgrade and new construction follow:
