Pastor Bob |
Eastern European Missions Network
On December 21, 2009, Pastor Bob completed 25 years of faithful service as senior pastor at Charity Lutheran Church, and returned to his roots as a missionary pastor. On January 2, 2010 , Rev. Nordvall was commissioned as a staff member of Eastern European Missions Network (EEMN )and will be leading missions to Eastern European countries as well as visiting Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ and other Lutheran churches stateside on behalf on EEMN.
Pastor Bob has been in Christian ministry for more than 40 years - both in foreign missions and in the United States. He is a well-known pastoral community leader in Bismarck and surrounding areas as well as the upper Midwest through his work with addictions at Heartview, his leadership with Interfaith ministries and his support for refugee placement and assistance. His 11 years as a missionary pastor in Papua, New Guinea, his recent missionary work on behalf of Eastern European missions while senior pastor at Charity, and his anointed gift of preaching have been a blessing to Charity and all who meet him - he touches the hearts of people in a direct, real and life-changing way.
When asked what he believes or what his calling is, Pastor Bob replies: "I serve the church of Christ." While he was senior pastor at Charity, we valued Pastor Bob as a gifted and anointed preacher of the Gospel, having a pastor's heart, a compassionate and insightful healer and counselor, a man of conviction and vision who has a vital role in guiding growth of LCMC and Eastern Europe missions. Pastor Bob and Karen have two children: Karl (son) & Tina Nordvall, and Mike and Siri (daughter) Myhrom. The family loves the great northwoods of Minnesota, traveling, camping, and fishing. Pastor Bob, Karen, Karl and Siri are graduates of Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. The family excels in and enjoys music, art, writing and and teaching.
Please pray for Pastor Bob and Karen as they step forward into this new call and season of ministry.

About Eastern European Missions Network
by Pastor Robert D. Nordvall
After our experiences in Estonia and Latvia in 2006 and subsequent trips that I took as part of teams in 2007 and 2008, our lives have been changed. Karen and I have joined ranks with the Eastern European Missions Network to raise awareness of the work of the Church in Eastern Europe and western Russia. It has been a lot of fun working with Bill Moberly (EEMN Director) and a number of other new friends, and I want to share some developments with you as we look ahead to more mission trips to Eastern Europe. My wife, Karen, has spent about 3,000 hours over the last 16 months preparing the curriculum that is being used this summer in a dozen camps in Russia and Eastern Europe. She has done a magnificent job, and EEMN wants to seek ways to publish her work to make it available to others. She also designed and prepared five flannel boards, including all the art work and characters, for use in teaching children in these camps. These units will be left in Russia for church use there. God bless you, Karen! You have heard me speak about Eenok Haamer, the founder of the Tartu Academy of Theology, and his son, Siimon, the dean of the school. The Haamers came to visit in the USA during 2007, first to Albuquerque, then Fargo, Bismarck and Minneapolis for the LCMC National Gathering. Charity has helped with the printing of Harri Haamer’s book, where he tells his story of his deportation to Siberia under Stalin. Harri was Eenok’s father. This project is being facilitated by Karen through EEMN, and we are thankful to Patti Ivey and others who have assisted with the editing. It has been a full year behind the scenes!
We covet your prayer support, and if you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask any one of us.
God is good!
